“This world is not my home, I’m just a passing through, my treasures are laid up, somewhere beyond the blue; the angels beckon me from Heaven’s open door and I can’t feel at home in this world any more!”
I remember Dad and Mom singing that old song and wondering about the mystery of another world, where the door was open, lights on, room is ready and angels escort. I was young didn’t know much about here much less another home. After all, we moved more often than Mayflower and so familiarity with here was not yet understood. I did see Dad’s weathered and worried face. I could view mother’s tiredness and anxiety. Grandparents were aging, ill and cast a wistful glance toward the other shoreline but it was new to me.
Now I get it! I am fully cognizant of this time watch trek on planet earth. I am my parents and grandparents. I order my body out of bed. I command it to go. I tense up at every phone call because a new problem, death or illness has arrived. There is only ONE solution, Jesus Christ. John the Apostle wrote in revelation 4:1 “Then as I looked, I saw a door open in Heaven, and the same voice I had heard before, said to me like a trumpet blast, “COME UP HERE….”
Be ready, it is sooner than you think. We are as believers, JUST A PASSING THROUGH.
Destination Heaven or _________?
